NANASP Statement on removal of Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices members NANASP called Secretary Kennedy’s dismissal of the ACIP members “unfortunate and unwarranted as it could harm the health of older Americans.” “We understand that new Administrations bring new people to the table. That is the way that Democracy works, but we must ensure transitions do not disrupt the ability of the agency to continue their important work. NANASP has co-led successful advocacy efforts to gain more funding for important aging programs, including: In the past year, NANASP has also led a successful advocacy campaign to make the RSV vaccine available to older adults without the need to discuss it with their doctor, hosted a malnutrition learning collaborative for AAAs, participated in ACL's strategic framework for a National Plan on Aging, and given grant funding to our members for waitlists, medically tailored meals, and technology to connect with older adults. |
