NANASP, ADvancing States, USAging, NCOA, and Meals on Wheels America Request Meetings with Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Congressional Leadership We, the undersigned organizations, collectively represent the national Aging Network including 56 state and territorial agencies on aging, 614 Area Agencies on Aging, thousands of local nutrition providers, like Meals on Wheels, senior centers, and other community-based service organizations. We are writing to respectfully request a meeting to discuss the future of aging services programs within the Department of Health and Human Services, particularly as it relates to continued federal leadership and continuity of services during the reorganization. Specifically, we would like to explore the impact the reorganization plan may have on the older adults and family caregivers we serve in states and communities nationwide. |
NANASP has co-led successful advocacy efforts to gain more funding for important aging programs, including: In the past year, NANASP has also led a successful advocacy campaign to make the RSV vaccine available to older adults without the need to discuss it with their doctor, hosted a malnutrition learning collaborative for AAAs, participated in ACL's strategic framework for a National Plan on Aging, and given grant funding to our members for waitlists, medically tailored meals, and technology to connect with older adults. |
