A Letter From the President
On May 30, 2014 Ann Cooper, CEO of Community Nutrition Network Meals on Wheels Foundation of Cook County Chicago, IL was elected into a two-year term as NANASP President. Below are her Incoming President Message remarks at the Annual Meeting after Paul Downey officially passed the gavel to her:
"I am honored and privileged to take the helm of this great association. Paul Downey has led us for the past four years and will be a very hard act to follow. I thank him for his loyalty and dedication to NANASP and you and promise to stay very involved.
This has been a first class conference and we’ve had fun too in this great City of San Antonio. There are so many to thank. I would like to highlight our appreciation of Valley Services and Scott Ball; Senior Service America – Tony Sarmiento. Well-Med and Carol Zernial; and the involvement of our friends in here Texas. Your participation ensured our success.
We can’t lose momentum. I remain committed to the association's course regarding Reauthorization of the Older Americans Act and now the White House Conference on Aging in 2015. Under the direction of our Executive Director, Bob Blancato NANASP is continuing to grow as well as our capacity to help our members. We will continue our push to attract the best and brightest and flourish our partnerships with other national aging associations. We recognize now more than ever, the importance of working together.
I can see so many opportunities for our programs and services. We have built an incredible safety net for older adults across this country. This network has untold value to our society and nation. We can only get stronger."
